Starting the Day

Kiara walked around the restaurant, making sure everything was in perfect running condition, as she did every day before she opened the doors to customers. Not that anyone would really care if the silverware on the hostess stand wasn't exactly right.
She looked over the restaurant, and fiddled with some things in her pockets, glancing at her watch every couple seconds. She was always ready early. It wasn't quite time to open yet. She took down part of her hair and redid it again once or twice. Early. Way too early, she said silently.

Tony found himself waking up earlier and earlier as the days passed that he moved back in with his family. Eventually, he stopped falling asleep altogether. At first, Tony sucked in his pride and told himself that it shouldn't bother him, it was all alright. However, the bought of insomnia was taking over his life. He was exhausted, really. He longed to close his eyes and 'lay in his bed, then thoughts of sugar plum fairies would fill his head.' No thoughts of fairies, nothing came anymore. Finally, the young man had decided to get some sleeping pills; after work. Tony stepped into the restaurant, surprised that the door was open. It was much too early, he knew, but everything was explained when he saw his sister pacing around.

"Hello, Kiara. Aren't you early?"

"Well, yes, but everything has to be perfect," Kiara said. "And just look, Tony. It is.. nearly. But no one will notice those problems.. Probably..." She fiddled with her watch. Her eyes darting around the room, it was quite clear that she was noticing some things beyond her control.

Poge' came walking in at that point, knowing both of his siblings were working and he walked up behind Tony and jumped on his back, ruffling his hair. "Hey Tony!" he said in a snarky way. "Workin' today?" he asked with a smile. He slid off of him, knowing that Tony would probably be mad at him for even touching him, let alone jumping onto him. Poge' didn't care, his brother was living with him so they would have to talk sooner or later. "What's up Kiara?" he asked and sat down on a chair after pulling it out from a table.

Kiara blinked, not expecting Poge' to come in. "Oh, not much. Just getting the restaurant ready.." she said, pushing a set of menus into a neater stack. She glanced at Tony, waiting for his reaction to Poge's abrupt.. entrance.

Tony really wasn't too awake when Poge' jumped on him. All too late he realized what happened, and as soon as his younger brother hopped off him, he lost his footing and tumbled down to the floor. Luckily, his hands swung out before his face, so no real damage was done. Probably a couple of minor bruises here and there. Naturally, the embarrassment from falling and the lack of sleep caused Tony to be much more irritable that normal. Using a chair for support, Tony staggered back to his feet and glared at Poge', contemplating some sort of pay-back in his mind.

"Good Morning, brother dearest." he said through gritted teeth. It wasn't to say that Tony hated his family; he loved every one of them dearly, but he was going through a phase in his life where he was confused about everything that happened in New York. It caused him to act differently than normal.

"Sounds like you both are having fun. Brother dear you must learn to relax, we live off of a beach, you don't always have to be up in your room secluding yourself, we are your family, we love you!" he said and touched his chest where his heart would be. "nuts happens, get over it and move on." He didn't know, to the fullest extent, what happened in New York, he just knew that he was back and things had happened that changed him. Poge' hadn't changed since Tony left but then again Poge' didn't ever want to grow up or even move out of the house for that matter. He liked living at home.

"Why did you leave in the first place?" he asked Tony, "I mean it's great here, a beach, gorgeous girls on the beach. Apparently your back so New York doesn't seem such a great place to live. I don't see the glamour in the freezing cold and having to take 2 buses and and a taxi to get to work."
